Interestingly the game of carom billiards has no pockets at all which is the extreme different from most billiards game. In fact the earlier form carom billiards was played on a grid of rectangular boxes on table. But now in the carom billiard game, the legal shot will be considered when the most shots contact three walls or cushions before striking a ball and it is referred to as three-cushion billiards.

These are some variations of carom billiards:

* The Cushion caroms generally is played with 3balls in different colors like one clear ball, one white spot ball, and one red ball. The game will be played by two or three players with these balls. According to the rule the player will have to start his shot with the cue ball bounce or carom off of one or two cushions before it touches the red ball. Then the shooter will have to try to contact either the clear or red ball after the opening shot carom the cue ball off of one or two cushions. The player can shoot until he doesn't complete a shot and every successful shot counts as a point.

* There is another game played with 4 balls like the same clear, white, red and a pink ball as well which is called as four ball caroms. The score is counted in this game by the cue ball caroming off of one or two cushions and contacting the balls. It will be count as one point if the shot caroms contacts two balls and if it will be 3point if it contacts three balls simultaneously. The shooter will have continue his shooting until he makes mistake in legal carom shot and in this way he will have raise his score than his opponent.

* The same standard three balls carom is also placed in Straight rail carom billiards which is used by most carom billiards players. The winner is declared before the carom billiards game starts when the players agree on the goal for a predetermined point goal. The player must remain with his shot until he connects on standard straight rail carom billiards and this is usual technique maintained by every shooter.

If you want to learn how to make carom shots without the worry of having to pocket a ball Carom, then billiards is a great suggestion for you. So if you are not experienced carom billiards player, then don’t engage yourself in a game of carom billiards with money. You will lose the game. So first learn the game then get ready for that.
