History says that the exact origin of the game billiards is inaccurate and uncertain. The most amusing word ‘billiard’ is derived from the two French words ‘Bille-art". The word "Bille" means simply a ball which refers to a game associated with a ball and stick, and "art" means the art of playing the game. The French were given a new life to this game and gained the popularity which claimed the most fashionable and indoor game today. Usually Billiards is considered as a family of games which is played on a table, with a cue stick. The cue stick helps to strike balls on around the table.

According to historical research, King Louis XI of France is the real inventory of game billiards in form of a billiard game board in1470. However, in early 1300 century the lawn game was evolved from game of bat and ball. Even the great historians are also unable to tell the exact reasons of the evolution of these games or any specific dates. The evolvement of game billiards is getting an interesting debate among historians regarding the its origin, because they are unable to give any conclusion to this rising game whether it was only meant for entertainment or for any social or religious functional services in ancient times.

Initially by the mid of 1500 century, the game Billiards played as an indoor games and then soon it became popular among both the common people and aristocrats in France. The billiards is also a game of instant physical relief, which needs a deep concentration and metal dexterity allowed fair play and equal footage to both sexes of players. The pattern of the game billiards we enjoy today was most probably appeared in the mid of 1600 century in form of the table version. The innovations of the cue were registered initially after that in the 1700 century. Only after then the game billiards is able to reach at its own status marking itself as a scientific game with some designed equipment, wooden tables and some standardized rules precisely.

Captain Minguard was initially designed the leather cue tip for preserving the cue which registered a new dimension to the game additionally. However the game billiards invaded through out the world by the 1850 century. The famous person from England is John Thurstion changed the wooden game board into the slate board in 1826. Again a new technique is evolved to improve the smoothness and friction of the wooden or slate board with the cotton or wool replaced to the fabric in 1797. Then also the shape, size design of the balls changed to ivory from wood. But presently the game billiards is associated with Colloidal coated plastic which was evolved in late back by 1869.

Today there are several types of billiard ball games like Eight ball game, Nine ball game, game of sixteen, fifteen bal game and straight pool etc. There is 16 balls are used in the billiard games. 15 balls are colored and one white called "cue" ball. The objects balls are solid colored and which has printed numbered one to seven. Balls numbered from 9 to 15 are white colored stripe equivalent to the solid ball. The nineball has a yellow stripe; the numbered 10-ball is the blue stripe colored, etc. The eight ball is always black. Except these there are also other kinds of billiards games like Three Cushion billiards, Straight Rail or Free Game and etc. However the game of three Cushion billiards is the most popular game among the all billiard games played.
